- 1 (18 1/4 ounce) package white cake mix
- milk (sub milk for Water)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

Filling
- 1 1⁄2 cups chopped nuts
- 1 (18 ounce) package raisins, ground
- 2 egg yolks
- 1⁄4 cup cream
- 1 1⁄2 cups sweet red wine

Frosting
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 2 egg whites
- 5 tablespoons water
- 1⁄2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- For cake, prepare cake mix according to package directions, substituting milk for water and adding baking powder. Bake for 25 minutes, or until done. Cool.
- For filling, combine nuts, raisins, egg yolks, cream and wine in saucepan. Heat to warm through and cook egg. (Do not boil.).
- Cut cake into 2 layers. Spread filling over bottom layer. Replace top layer.
- For frosting, combine sugar, egg whites, water, corn syrup and vanilla in top of double boiler. Cook and beat for 7 minutes, or until stiff peaks form. Beat for 1 minute. Spread over top and sides of cake.
