Homemade Chili

"This chili is great, with or without the hamburger. I got it off another web site. It is easy to make and tastes great. I halved the recipe and it still made a lot."

directions

  • Brown hamburger in skillet, remove from grease and place into 4 quart saucepan.
  • Cook onions and green peppers in left over grease or butter.
  • Add to hamburger.
  • Add butter (melted), tomatoes and spices. (not sure butter is needed).
  • Cook on low-medium heat for about 45 minutes.
  • Add kidney beans with juice from cans. (I used about half the juice).
  • Cook for another 15 minutes or just until beans start to split open. (Took way longer than 15 minutes for me).

  1. This is a very good recipe for a crowd or to make a lot of leftovers to freeze. We are always bringing meals to people in need so this is a good one for us! I've never put butter in chili before so did half the amount, don't notice it in there so it must be good. :)
