  1. Okay, my sauce tastes a little funky and is quite thick. Is this normal? I JUST REALIZED I FORGOT GINGER! Never mind, does not call for ginger. This is my first go around with cooking Japanese cuisine. I am a pretty good cook, the flavors are not shining through, yet. They just started marinating. I expect the flavors have to do there thing????

  1. wonderful wonderful and so easy to make. Next time i have a recipe with hoisin i won't panic because i have emptied my jar, this is terrific

  2. Yum! It's not exactly like hoisin, but close enough and so tasty too! I used Szechuan teriyaki marinade for the hot sauce, gave a nice bite. Thanks! Now I don't have to worry about having hoisin on hand at all times, the ingredients are always in my pantry! Made by a Looney Spoon Phoodie for ZWT#6.

  3. Excellent recipe! I made this to use in recipe #173469, and it was great. And tonight I'll use it on recipe#280864. Thanks for posting :) This has been saved in my Asian cookbook and will be made any time I need Hoisin Sauce. *Made for SSaSSy's ZWT6*

  4. I made this recipe to use in recipe#150084 but I have leftover for other recipes. It smells really good. Even better than store-bought hoisin sauce. When I added the peanut butter, it was hard to mix. So I put it in the microwave for a good minute and then stirred. It was easier to mix. For the hot sauce, I used tabasco. Thanks Cooking Nurse :) Made for the Zwizzle Chicks of ZWT

  5. This turned out very well. I used it for Recipe #285330 #285330. Sorry there isn't a photo as I totally forgot to snap a pic before I went ahead with the chicken marinade. I will definately make this again! Made for ZWT6: No-Nonsense Nibblers.

There are a lot of things I love about life, my family, my faith in God, my church family, my friends. I also enjoy so many hobbies. Working as a nurse means I work 3, 12 hour shifts a week and have 4 days off! Which gives me a lot of time to do the things I love like cooking, scrapbooking, photography and just recently herb/flower gardening! My family includes my adorable and amazing husband and my 13 year old step-son (who proves to be a challange to this new mom but we love him soo!!!) The newest love of my life is the beautiful little husky sitting on my lap in this picture. She is 5 months old and an absolute joy to our life! I also just started a new cooking blog called 'Make it homemade.' I believe we can all save a lot of money, if we use our skills to make frequently store-bought items at home in our own kitchens! Besides, homemade just taste better!
