Why is this recipe in liters? Google won't even tackle 3/4 of a liter. Water, sugars, and coffee are measured in cups. Bt the vodka in liters. Can I get this recipe in measurements I can understand? At 72 I am not about to embark on a Math career. All I want is a Kahlua recipe, please and thank you.

10 stars for sure! This was a very very good, cheaper substitute for the more expensive authentic Kahlua coffee liqueur. Tested as a single shot, the adults in my family knew the real versus the homemade (most likely because the homemade was just a smidgeon less smooth than the real Kahlua....but apparently not enough to matter, because everyone asked for more!) But when tasting the various cocktails, my family was all over the page regarding which cocktails had the real and which had the homemade Kahlua. I left it to age 2 weeks exactly, and that seemed just right. Thanks for posting such a wonderful recipe, Motivated Mama. It's a definite "keeper". Wow! This tastes exactly like "real" kahlua!! I used Smirnoff vodka, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract (I couldn't get whole vanilla beans). It still has to age for 2 weeks, but it already tastes amazing! I'll come back and let you know what I think again after the two weeks are up! I'll definaly be making this again!!

Making this for a second time. I used exactly 1/2 the sugars (for my friends who don't like too much sweet). Instead of white sugar I substituted cane sugar because its so much more yummy! I used the Costco Kirkland brand giant bottle (1.75litre) of French vodka and saved just a few ounces to make some drinks from ;) It got rave reviews last time to those who received some as a gift!

My husband and I have been happily married for six years and we have two amazing children!
I stay home with our son and daughter and stay busy in with local mom's groups and activities. I am a certified childbirth educator (bradleybirth.com) and also teach and supervise the Aqua Aerobic department at one of our local gyms. I am somewhat of a health nut/hippee and distribute whole food suppliments (morganlovesjuiceplus.com), but I love to bake and to share my baked goods. There is no better compliment than when some one takes a bite of my very own Chocolate Chip Cookies and says they are the best they've ever tasted! (Sorry, it's a secret recipe!) I would love to open my own bakery someday...
I like to cook for my family too, and have become exceptionally motivated since our son was born. I have been finding myself getting swept away reading cookbooks (while the kids are sleeping). :) I am really enjoying trying new recipes (and so is my husband) and I think I am becomming a "Foodie" so Recipezaar is simply heaven for me!
