- Get the hazelnuts as finely ground as possible. My final product was gritty because I couldn't get them powdered enough. It doesn't hurt the taste but if anyone figures out how to make them finer, email me.
- Melt the butter.
- Combine the melted butter, cocoa, honey and powdered hazelnuts and mix.
- Put in some kind of container and keep in the fridge.

This has been my standard recipe for homemade nutella for years. You can get a paste out of the hazelnuts if you process them in a very strong food processor until they get hot. They will form a ball around the blades of the processor and then become a paste. Just keep processing long enough. This is very good with cashews or cashew butter, too, and also, as Kasha says, if the hazelnuts stay a bit gritty :-) Thanks for posting this!
