Overall this is a very good recipe but it doesn't indicate the shelf life so I has hestitant to make a large amount. Has a great sour cream taste however it is not as thick as store bought sour cream, so I wouldn't use it in dip recipes. Great for a topping on baked potatoes though. Also considering the cost to purchase the ingredients needed to make this, I think it still cheaper just to use store bought. Buttermilk and cream are not normal staples in my house, I only buy it when I need it. However, if you use sour cream on a daily basis, then it may serve you well to make a big batch.
