  1. Good recipe however I make slight modifications to it that my family enjoys more. I add 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of wheat gluten, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 extra table spoon of bread flour. Basic cycle 1, light crust, 2.0 LB loaf. We like the light crust on it. Thought I would share. I cut it using an electric knife from amazon on a pine bread cutter also from amazon for perfect slicing, I store in an all natural linnen / flax bread machine bag available from amazon.com. I use "white lilly bread flour" $4.95 per bag from smucker. Red star yeast. I sift the flour and spoon it into the measuring cup carefully. Before cutting it, I let it cool off in the slicing board for 35 mins. Makes a perfect loaf every time and doesn't use lots of flour since I make sure to aerate/ sift it to avoid dense yucky bread from the bread machine. All other ingredients are the same. My family can't get enough of this bread. it seemed the original recipe was okay but needed some slight tweaking to get the texture and consistency just right since my family only likes soft bread.

  2. This recipe is a find. I have a large bread machine and it is nice to be able to use it to its full capacity. Plus, this bread is so tasty and easy to prepare, we can eat it often.

  3. This bread is very tasty. It is the first Oatmeal bread that isn't made with sourdough starter that I have found to be really tasty. I followed the ingredients exactly. I mixed the dough in my ABM but took it out of the machine before rising. Then I shaped it into a round loaf, sprinkled some cornmeal on my stonewear, placed the loaf on it. Then I oiled it and covered it with plastic wrap and let it rise until it was doubled in sized. I baked it in a 350 degree oven for 35 minutes. It is not only good freshly baked but also makes awesome grilled cheese and ham sandwiches. Thanks. I will make this recipe again and again.
