  1. Preheat oven to 450°.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  3. Add in the shortening and cut it in with a pastry cutter until the mixture is mealy.
  4. Add the 7-Up all at once and stir with a fork just until the dry ingredients are evenly moistened .
  5. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead about 8 times.
  6. Roll out the dough 3/4-inch thick and let rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Cut out rounds with a 2-inch biscuit cutter.
  8. Roll scraps together and cut out more rounds.
  9. Arrange the rounds on a baking sheet about 1/2 inch apart.
  10. Brush with melted butter and bake in the upper third of the oven until golden brown, 10-12 minutes.
  11. Serve immediately.
