  1. I made Max's recipe for Twinkie Sponge Cake, too. But this filling was very close to the original Hostess recipe, and it was very easy....it all went in the bowl, and my electric mixer did all the work. Very fun recipe to make. Thanks for posting it, Max. Made for 2009 Spring Pick-A-Chef.

  2. This was truly horrible. Don't waste your time with this recipe... You'd be better off using frosting from a can.

  3. This tastes nothing like Twinkie filling, and it is crunchy. CRUNCHY, might be better with powdered sugar otherwise it is really bad. I'm throwing it out.

  4. If I could give it less than 1 star I would. I made this with Max's Hostess Twinkie Sponge Cake and have reviewed that separately. This is a filling, not a frosting so the other reviewers suggestion to use canned frosting I do not think would work. But, definitely find another filling. I used the almond extract that was indicated as an option in the recipe and it was gross as other's have reviewed. I served this at an event and half was thrown away, a complete waste of time.
