  1. I took Annacia's lead & left out the butter & used fresh apples (sliced crosswise into rounds)! Also used some raw apple cider for one of this most satisfying hot drinks like this that we've had in quite a while! Definitely a winner! Well worth making again! Thanks for sharing the recipe! 2. Made with all the ingredients on the stove in a smaller quantity. This is one of the better apple cider recipes in my opinion. I like the butter on top and the dried fruit makes it have even more of a fallish, winter feeling. You must be careful only to simmer as boiling separates the drink. I may make this again.

  3. I made this in a smaller crock pot for Thanksgiving. With two exceptions I made it as ask. My exceptions were to use fresh apple slices as the dried apple was horribly expensive for something that would have been picked out and discarded by these guys and I skipped the butter because so many of the dishes were butter laden. Being hot and not really sweet it was a real delight for slow sipping through the day. Everyone really loved it and ask for it to appear again soon.

  4. We put up our Halloween decorations today, so it seemed the perfect time for some hot apple cider! I put everything in the crockpot this afternoon and by the time we were finished decorating, it was ready. We liked this cider a lot and will make it again and again, I'm sure. I realized as I was putting it together that I was out of ground cloves, so I used 4 whole cloves instead. Other than that and using the crockpot, I made it as written. Thanks, ellie, for a delightful recipe!
