Hot Chocolate

"This is my personal recipe. I think I originally based it on the recipe on a thing of hot chocolate mix, but this is my own spin on it. You can also add spices to it (cinnamon is very good). Get creative! It's also good with a bit of coffee (making it a mocha). And if you want to get REALLY fancy, top with some foamed milk and a sprinkling of cinnamon or chocolate (or both??)."

  • Make a paste with the chocolate and milk. If the paste starts to get too dry, add more milk.
  • When most or all of the chocolate is dissolved, add the remaining milk and pour into a sauce pan.
  • Add the sugar.
  • Heat over low to medium heat while stirring constantly until it steams.
  • Pour into your favourite mug and enjoy!

  1. Loved this! It was so easy to make, and we added candy canes for stir sticks, it was quite delicious! We used a dark chocolate for it. Yum!

  3. Wordeful, I made it last night after my gym class and it was so good and refresing! But I must confess... I used the microwave for a quick result. Next time I'll make it in a sauce pan as directed and maybe add a little cinnamon? Thanks for sharing! Made it for PAC Fall 2007.

Cooking is one of my favourite things to do and to me it's not really about the end product (though I'd be lying if I said it totally wasn't)--I just love the process of creating something tasty--maybe with some good (CLASSICAL) music on in the background. My favourite cookbooks are "The Kids Can Press Jumbo Vegetarian Cookbook" and "Vegetarian Times Complete Cookbook" (preferably the 2003 edition). I'm also sort of getting into "The Joy of Cooking" a bit. I also love anything to do with the arts and I love to dance (a combo of ballet, jazz-dance and whatever else pops into my head. I also know some Flamenco and Irish step-dance) and play violin. Oh, and I love to write. I'm also fascinated with religion and spirituality, but I won't get into that here--see my home page (a.k.a, my blog) for more on that subject.
