directions

  • mix dry ingredients and shortening together.
  • rub mixture with fingers until like coarse bread crumbs.
  • push to one side of bowl and add water.
  • mix in circular motion with fingers and knead in upward motion and stretch to make dough tender.
  • knead on a floured surface for 2-3 min.
  • divide into 6 portions and shape into a balls.
  • flatten with finger starting with the center moving outward (6-7 inches).
  • Fry in hot oil until golden brown on edges on both sides.
