Indian Fry Bread

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1⁄2 cup powdered milk
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3⁄4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons shortening
directions
- mix dry ingredients and shortening together.
- rub mixture with fingers until like coarse bread crumbs.
- push to one side of bowl and add water.
- mix in circular motion with fingers and knead in upward motion and stretch to make dough tender.
- knead on a floured surface for 2-3 min.
- divide into 6 portions and shape into a balls.
- flatten with finger starting with the center moving outward (6-7 inches).
- Fry in hot oil until golden brown on edges on both sides.
