  • Brown first three ingredients in the 1 tablespoon salad oil.
  • Cook spinach according to package directions.
  • Drain, reserving liquid; add water to make 1 cup.
  • Stir spinach liquid and next 5 ingredients into meat mixture.
  • Simmer 10 minutes.
  • Combine spinach with remaining ingredients.
  • Spread in a greased 9x13x2-inch baking dish.
  • Top with meat sauce.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

  1. I have made this for years from an old Betty Crocker cookbook. Tastes great, freezes well. A few extra steps of prep than some but tastes so much better than one would expect.
     
  2. This is great! I got this exact same recipe when I has in Home-ec in high school. It's been a favorite of mine since. You can't taste the spinach at all- my husband loves this and he doesn't eat anything thats good for him!

I am 30 years old. I am married and have a wonderful family. My hubbie is the greatest. We have a 2 1/2 year old little girl. Her name is Lizzie Belle. I have pics if anyone wants to see. I work for a bank in Brandon, MS. My hubbie is a police officer in Jackson. I have a great cookbook that is called "Any Blonde Can Cook". It is awesome. I love to cook...when I have the time. My family keeps me pretty busy though. I enjoy reading books, going to the movies, traveling, spending time with my family, cooking, playing with Lizzie Belle, tanning, and getting my nails done.
