ingredients
- 1 1⁄3 lbs 88% lean ground beef
- 5⁄8 lb ground turkey
- 1⁄4 cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1⁄3 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1⁄2 teaspoon hot sauce (such as Tapatio or Sriracha)
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon minced dried onion
- 2 teaspoons seasoning salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 2 eggs, beaten
- olive oil, for browning
- 2 (26 ounce) jars marinara sauce
directions
- Mix all dry ingredients in a small bowl.
- In a medium sized bowl, combine both ground meats until well-mixed.
- Add in eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce and mix well.
- Add all dry ingredients to meat mixture and mix well.
- Meanwhile, heat a saucepan on medium-high heat with about a teaspoon of Olive oil.
- Heat up marinara sauce in a separate large pot, such as a 5-quart Dutch oven.
- Form meat mixture into golf-ball sized balls and place gently into hot saucepan, watching carefully so as to only brown the outside.
- Gently drop the browned meatballs into the simmering marinara sauce, cover and turn heat down to medium-low (about 2 or 3).
- Let simmer for 30-60 minutes.
