Jam Thumbprints

"I thought these looked interesting and kinda fun, I love hands on cookies, lol. You can fill with any kind of jam you like and nuts are always optional, I just love anything with pecans. If not using pecans rolling in brown sugar is wonderful."

  • Cream butter and sugar til fluffy (if you have a strong mixer you may start with softened butter).
  • Add egg yolks, vanilla and salt and beat well.
  • Gradually add flour and mix thoroughly.
  • Lightly beat egg whites in a separate bowl (Do not add in).
  • Roll your dough into 3/4 inch balls and dip in egg whites and roll in your pecans.
  • Place 1" apart on greased cookie sheet and mash down the centers with your thumbs.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes (my oven it's just a little more).
  • Cool slightly and just before serving fill centers with preserves.
