Jamaican Rum Punch

"Please note that this recipe has been edited since it was reviewed. If you like Screwdrivers and Tequila Sunrises, you'll probably love this drink! You'll be asking yourself one question, "But why is the rum gone?!" (Sorry, couldn't resist a Pirates of the Caribbean quote!) I modified it from a recipe I found on DIYnet.com."

  1. I halved this recipe and prepared it yesterday. This was "spicy" as one of the guys I served it to put it to me. Personally, I found the quantity of rum to be in excess and that made this rather too strong for us. I suggest cutting down by half on the quantity of rum and then trying this. Update: I added in 1 cup of sugar and then served a glass of this to the same guy who had it last week. Once again, he was very dissapointed. I'm sorry, Kree...I rarely give one star reviews, but I had to take a stand on this one.

  2. being jamaican myself, there is an easy way to remember the recipe..one of sour, two of sweet, three of strong, four of weak. one part lime, two of the sugar solution, three of the rum and four parts of the water

  3. I would just like to point out that this recipe has been edited since the last review was written. At the time, I accidentally posted it as having the full 3 cups of rum, which I agree with Char is way too much! Oops!

I'm a real estate agent in the lovely city of Rochester, New York. That's not what I expected to do with my life. I got my bachelor's in psychology, my masters in literacy education, and I taught high school special education for two years. Then I discovered that helping people find the homes of their dreams was my real passion. I've been doing it for over two years now and still absolutely love my career. Other than that, I have a very spoiled Border Collie mix named Bear that I adopted from a local shelter in spring '08. He's gorgeous and fun and brings me great joy. Now if only I could find a man like that... LOL!
