Jello Jigglers (For Cookie Cutters)

"I get really frustrated with Jello that doesn't set-up. I have made these "fool-proof" jigglers a million times for my kids. It's the only recipe I've used that's firm enough to cut out with cutters. Very easy for kids to make, too."

  1. I have been using this recipe for years as an ex-kindergarten teacher. One thing I did discover is that you can microwave any scraps until they are liquid again and then just pour them into the pan and refrigerate them again and make more out of the scraps. That way the kids can use it all to make shapes with cookie cutters.

  2. I have made Jigglers for many years, my daughter is in her 40s now. The one thing I do differently is I line the pan with Saran plastic wrap, leaving some hanging over the edges. This makes it easy to remove from the pan without having to heat the bottom of the pan. Then I use my cookie cutters. I recently sent for the newest Jiggler mold from Jello.com. It is a mold for Jello eggs. You can use an egg slicer to cut them in slices for Jello "coins" to put into dishes of whipped cream!

  3. These were good but I do agree with the others that the extra packet of knox does take away from the taste. We still enjoyed them.

  4. I made a 1/4 batch of this today to make dh jiggler eggs for Easter. They were very easy to put together, but I agree about the taste being different due to the extra gelatin. Thanks for sharing!

  5. I made orange "Nemos" and the kids at my son's party adored them. I used Nana Lee's saran wrap trick and it worked great. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to make a double batch. This was less messy by far than regular Jello and I will make it for my son again and again in different shapes. I used a mini-cutter in the shape of a star so I could use the scraps decoratively. They were eaten as well.

Hi everybody, I’ve been using “Zaar” website for the last year but ready to commit myself to adding my two cents worth (including some photos). I live with my DH and two great kids and one crazy dog in the foothills of Colorado. We have a great view with lots deer and red rocks. I come from a food-loving family, including my nearby sister who is willing to discuss "what's for dinner" first thing in the morning! I’ve loved cooking every since I was a teenager. I don’t work so I have lots of time to cook my latest craving. I love to try and duplicate dishes I enjoy from restaurants. I have a lot of cookbooks, but now use mostly “Zaar” recipes and from “Cooks Illustrated.” I love reading cookbooks (library) and like the old classics from Betty Crocker to backs of food labels. I love to research lots of recipes before I decide which one to make.
