Directions

  1. Heat oven to 450.
  2. Mix dry ingredients.
  3. Cut shortening into flour mixture with a fork until it looks like coarse crumbs.
  4. Add milk all at once and mix until moistened and dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. On a floured surface, gently knead dough for about 30 seconds. Roll out dough to 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness and cut using a 2 inch cutter.
  6. Brush melted butter on tops of biscuits.( don't skimp on this!).
  7. Bake for 11- 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Serve with butter and honey or jelly, or country gravy.
