Jicama Y Ensalada Anaranjada Picante (Spicy Oranges & Jicama
"I love sweet and spicy combinations and this fruit salad is one of those great pairings. Salad should chill for about 2 hours before serving so plan ahead."

ingredients
- 6 small navel oranges
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup jicama, cut into sticks (3 by 1/2 inches)
- 1⁄2 cup cilantro, chopped
- salt, to taste
- 1 red jalapeno chile, seeded and diced
- cayenne pepper
- 6 cups mixed salad greens, tossed with vinaigrette (optional)
directions
- Remove orange sections from membranes.
- Toss orange slices, onion slices and jicama, sprinkle with cilantro and jalapeno and season with salt and cayenne.
- Cover and refrigerate the salad for about 2 hours.
- Serve cold on chilled plates or on a bed of mixed greens that have been tossed with a vinaigrette, such as citrus or balsamic.

This is a peppy salad that I loved. I used a Sprtzer Balsamic Mist as the dressing. For the orange I used a Satsumi orange but the Navel will be livlier in the flavor. Had to use a green Jalapeno but added a bit of sweet red pepper for the color Thanks Cheryl for a lovely Lunch -
Definitely wanted to make this, what with the oranges & jicama, but the jalapeno was a bit too much for me so I substituted half a poblano for the latter ingredient! I made a salad of romaine, raddicho, and spinach leaves with white balsamic and olive oil. This was the best topper I have ever had , sweet, hot, citrus, and crunchy all at the same time. This went well with some grilled shrimp. I will be making this recipe for a long time.

Leslie, Mama's Kitchen, sassafrasnanc, Mommy Diva and Chef V attended the wedding with their husbands!! Leslie's daughter Sarah was our flower girl and her hubby Wayne was our talented musician! I had the time of my life!!!

Our family is rounded out with 6 Bengals, 1 Jack Russell Terror named Harley, a ferret named Mason, giant gold fish, a water dragon named Crusoe, a Beautiful Appaloosa/Arabian named Sassy, a stunning Palomino Quarter Horse named Sweet Pea and a gorgeous black Standardbred named Domino! We also have added a Leopard Appaloosa rescue horse to the mix. Her name is Pebbles and she is lovely!

I love Zaar! I have so many wonderful friends here and I really enjoy being a Forum Host. I love the games in the Contest & Events Forum! The games are addictive and a great opportunity to meet the members of this community. I had a blast co-hosting the first Zaar World Tour 2005 with ~Leslie~. Zaar World Tour II doubled in size and ~Leslie~ and I were joined with co-hosts Mama�s Kitchen and kzbhansen. Zaar World Tour 3 doubled again in size and Leslie, Mama's Kitchen and I were joined with SusieD, PanNan and JustCallMeToni! We also established the "Whine and Cheese Gang" which was a wonderful team that was put together to help all the teams playing. Zaar World Tour IV will be bigger and even better!!!
