Jimmy Paul's Submarines

"When my mother was in high school, she worked at a restaurant called Jimmy Paul's in Mt. Pleasant, PA. Growing up, we often had these sandwiches. When I told my husband about them, he thought they sounded crazy but enjoyed eating them."

  1. Not a bad try for the recipe... However you are missing 1 massive ingredient and step that makes the subs perfection. Sadly... shhh it is a family secret.

  2. What a nice sandwich! I followed your directions with only one exception, and that was to lightly sprinkle the vinegar and oil on the bottom part of the bun. I also sprinkled the dressing on the meat and cheese as per your directions. I wrapped the sandwiches up in plastic wrap and took them out on a picnic today. They were nice and moist (not overly moist) and were a nice lunch served with salad. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe. Definately going into my t&t book.

  3. Everything is correct except one important detail, All of Jimmy's Subs were cut open then slattered with butter, then they were toasted on the Grill until they were Golden Brown, then the Shoe String Salami and Cheese and Chopped Italian Salad and Vinegar and oil Dressing was added

I live in Omaha NE and am an audiologist at Boys Town National Research Hospital. I love to cook, as does my husband Michael. In the summer, we have a large garden and try to use alot of fresh fruits/veggies in our cooking. We have a 5 year old daughter, Kate and almost 2 year old son Sam and enjoy introducing them to new foods. One of their favorites is fresh pesto smeared on crackers!
