John and Yoko's Double Fantasy Bars

"No, this is not John and Yoko's recipe. I know John Lennon took some time off to bake bread when he became a house husband back in the 70s, but I doubt he ever made these bars. This is purely my invention. Miller sent me some of the M&Ms bits, I did a little research here at Zaar how they would best be used (besides just inhaling them, of course), and came up with this. John Lennon's Double Fantasy album just happened to be playing on the stereo at the time. Good bars, my family don't deserve them, I keep them hidden as a special treat for me!"

directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • In a bowl combine the butter and cookie crumbs.
  • Then press the mixture into the bottom of a 13x9 inch baking pan.
  • I normally do not grease the pan, but line with with parchment paper.
  • When it's ready and baked, I just lift the whole thing out of the pan and let it cool, and there is practically no pan cleanup!
  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crumbs.
  • Scrape out the can with a spatula, you want to get every precious drop of the stuff.
  • Combine the M&M's Baking Bits, coconut, and nuts.
  • Sprinkle mixture evenly over the condensed milk.
  • Press the sprinkled stuff in lightly with your hands, be gentle.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until set.
  • Cool completely before cutting.
  • Store in a tightly covered container, hidden away from the rest of the member of your family (at least, that's what I do).

  1. I made these for a graduation party and got a lot of compliments on how good they were...people loved the chocolate crust. many asked for the recipe.

  2. No such thing as too rich and gooey or too much chocolate. I love condensed milk recipes and I love bar cookies, so I loved this recipe. Mirj these were beyond 5 stars!!!!!

  3. These are VERY rich, I'd say too rich for me, but my friends really liked them a lot. I had no idea what M&Ms baking bits were so I substituted with plain chocolate chips and a few regular M&Ms scattered on top, for a happier look!

If you ask my husband (or my coworkers), I haven't logged out since! <br /><br /><a href=http://www.TickerFactory.com/><br /><img src=http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/d/4;15;0/st/20011021/e/I Joined Zaar%21/dt/6/k/f656/event.png border=0 alt= /></a> <br /><br />So what's happened in the ten years since I became addicted to Zaar? Well, I've been happily married, happily divorced, and happily married once again. (Wanna see wedding pictures? I'm married to a brilliant man with the most yummy British accent (this is the part where he rolls his eyes and says, Yeah, yeah, yeah). Let's call him Sushiman, even though he hates that name. <a href=http://www.recipezaar.com/member/52282>Chia</a> gave him that nickname when I was trying to create a dinner to show off my culinary talents. I posted here on Zaar with questions about the menu and since sushi was the main focus of the meal, he became Sushiman. That dinner was just the first of what I hope will become a lifetime of meals together. <br /><br />This is a picture of us taken in September 2005 in Kew Gardens in London. Sushiman has 4 kids of his own, so together that makes us a family of ten, together with my dog and my step-dog (sadly, since I first wrote this my step-dog, Honey, crossed the Rainbow Bridge). We're the Brady Bunch on speed. Not all eight live with us, but everyone is in and out all of the time, so we're thinking about replacing our front door with one of those revolving thingies.</p> <p>If you need help figuring out the whole complicated mess, you can check out <a title=Miriyummy -- A Guide to the Perplexed href=http://miriyummy.wordpress.com/about/ target=_blank>Miriyummy, A Guide to the Perplexed</a>.</p> <p>Here are my four beauties -- from left to right: Adiya, Sara, Nomi and Tehila <br /><br /><a href=http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v240/mirj/?action=view?t=111.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/mirj/111.jpg border=0 alt=Photobucket /></a> <br /><br />On March 18, 2009, my oldest, Sara, got married to Ariel.
