ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef, browned (optional)
- 1 lb bacon
- 1 large vidalia onion, diced
- 1 red pepper, diced
- 1 green pepper, diced
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1⁄4 cup ketchup
- 1 (16 ounce) bottle hickory smoke flavor barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 3 teaspoons molasses
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
- 16 ounces butter beans (I like these so I double)
- 16 ounces black beans
- 16 ounces kidney beans
- 31 ounces pork and beans
- 1 (12 ounce) can beer
directions
- Brown and crumble ground beef if using.
- Open all cans of beans and pour in a strainer to drain liquid.
- Add all ingredients to large casserole dish.
- Use some of the beer to pour in the empty bottle of BBQ sauce to shake up and get all the contents out.
- Add the drained beans.
- Mix well.
- Lay Bacon all over the top.
- Bake at 350 for 1 hour. (1 hour is fine, but they actually taste better the longer they cook. I try to start mine very early and just let them cook in a slow oven after the initial hour as long as time allows.).
