“This came from my Bread Maker's Bible. This looks like a fun and decadent tea cake that requires yeast and a dough cycle in a bread machine (accounted for in prep time, my machine has a 90-min cycle.) It's called a cream bread but contains no cream. Omit the wheat gluten if using bread flour. I believe it makes a 1.5-lb loaf. It says that you use more Kahlua, use proportionately less water. This isn't a quickbread though!”
1 1.5-lb loaf

  1. Put all the ingredients in your bread machine in the order listed by the manufacturer EXCEPT for the chocolate chips, selecting the dough cycle.
  2. When the dough cycle ends, put the dough onto a lightly-floured surface. Cover with a dishcloth and let rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Roll the dough out into a big rectangle, and sprinkle with the chocolate chips. Approx 1 cup, more or less, and a mixture of white and chocolate chips would be neat.
  4. Roll it up into a loaf, and place into a lightly-buttered loaf pan, cover with the dishcloth, and let rise for 45 minutes.
  5. Uncover and slash the top with a knife carefullhy. Brush with milk.
  6. Bake at 375F for 25-30 minutes, then let cool on a cake rack.
