directions

  • Make stuffing according to pkg directions, fold in 1 Tbl. apple pie filling and cheddar, set aside.
  • Pour rest apple pie filling onto bottom of 13x9 pan (greased.)
  • In hot skillet, lightly brown pork chops (seasoned with seasoning salt and pepper) on both sides.
  • Place pork chops on top of apples.
  • Top each with a mound of stuffing.
  • (I loosely pack it a little to make it look nice, making a round ball of it.).
  • Sprinkle lightly with a little coarse ground pepper.
  • Cover and bake at 350• for 40-45 minutes.
  • Uncover and bake 10 minutes longer.
  • (*Porkchops ARE done when just barely light pink in center and juices run clear.)**When serving, make sure you scoop with a large spatula, getting underneath the chop to get all the pie filling underneath.
  • Hope I explained that right.

Reviews

  1. I made these last night for my family. I had some frozen apple pie filling that needed to be used up, and not wanted to use it in a pie, I chose your recipe. Boy, did I make a good choice. These are amazing. We loved the sweeter apples with the savoury pork and stuffing. I will make again. I did cut down on cooking time, as my chops were quite thin, but they still turned out slightly pink and juicy. So good. Thank you for sharing this AMAZING recipe with us,we loved it.

  2. I can't believe I forgot to write a review on this recipe. Well allow me to correct that now. I made this last week for my roommate and cousin. Definitely a big hit. I was out of pork stuffing and it was a little late to run to the store so I just substituted turkey flavored stove top instead. Luckily it still tasted amazing. Plus instead of using store bought apple pie filling, I salvaged some aging apples and made my own mix based off some of the other comments. So very tasty. This may be one of my new favorite ways to make pork chops. They were so juicy.

  3. I tried it and this has got to be hands down one of the best recipes ever posted for combining, apple, pork, stuffing and goodness! I made my own apple pie filling (1/2 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 6 cups thinly sliced peeled and cored apples and stir until well mixed). I put about 3 or 4 apples from my apple pie mixture in the stuffing after it was done cooking and let sit on the stove covered. I didn't add the cheddar cheese or the ground black pepper on top of stuffing before putting in the oven. When this was done, I shamefully must admit that I stood over the stove and gobbled away!! I couldn't even tear myself away to get a plate and sit and eat like normal human beings do!! LOL. Also, the apples that stayed on top were half baked and of course, so I ended up with a bit of crunch in some bites, which I loved!! I brought some for lunch and I can't wait!!! Only thing I would do differently is not cook it for 40 mins. It was a tad overdone -- I think 10 mins. less they would've been perfect!! Thanks so much for posting and this is definitely a keeper!!!

  4. This is a very good recipe. Now I can make pork chops with something else other than Au Gratin Potato.

  5. I've been making this for several years now and it's a family favorite! I mix in a half can of whole berry cranberry sauce to the apple pie filling, or you can just add some whole cranberries. It gives this dish a pop of flavor that we all enjoy! I've made this dish with chicken also and it's very good!

  2. This was great! Instead of using canned apples though, I cut up 4 large freshly picked apples and "fried" them with a little bit of butter, cinnamon and sugar. I also used Stove Top Savory Herb stuffing. It added wonderful flavor.
