- 177.44 ml sugar
- 236.59 ml soy sauce or 236.59 ml tamari
- 29.58 ml water
- 14.79 ml sliced lemongrass
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 star anise
directions
- Caramelize 3/4 cup sugar in a heavy pot.
- Gradually stir in the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Cool and strain through cheesecloth.
