"I read all the time recipes for kfc slaw and they all call for mayo. Where I buy kfc, slaw has no mayo in it. Maybe it's up to the kfc stores, since they're now all privately franchised owned. Anyway, I tried and tried till I got this to taste like the kfc slaw where I buy it. Hope you like it."

ingredients

¹⁄₂ large head of cabbage, chopped
1 carrot, finely diced
¹⁄₂ onion, finely
¹⁄₂ cup sugar
¹⁄₂ cup vinegar
1 teaspoon celery seed
¹⁄₂ teaspoon salt
¹⁄₄ teaspoon pepper
¹⁄₄ cup oil

directions

Chop cabbage, onion and carrot.
Mix sugar, vinegar, celery seed, salt, pepper and oil in saucepan.
Boil 3-4 minutes.
Pour over slaw mix.
Chill.

I don't eat at KFC, but this is a good coleslaw recipe, none the less! I like it without the mayo for a nice change.

I made this for my family yesterday, and they all went crazy about it. Where we live the KFC's all have mayo, and it's quite soupy. This is very, very good, and really quick, and easy to make. So glad I found it. Jacque#2

This was the closest I have ever found to KFC slaw, in fact I think it was BETTER: absolutely delicious!! Even DH liked it and he's not much of a slaw eater...Thanks for posting!
