Kicked up Monte Cristos!

"These sandwiches are To-Die-For!!!! Sweetness from raspberry preserves and powdered sugar, saltiness from gouda, ham and turkey, and a little kick from cayenne! Use any good, thick-sliced bread. Challah or Brioche is great! But plain sliced bread works just fine! This is a must try for any time of day!!! (Midnight is my favorite!) Created for RSC #11."

  1. Absolutely fantastic! I believe this is the best Monte Cristo I have ever eaten. We loved the addition of the raspberry perserves...great contrast to the gouda, ham and turkey. I only used a couple of pinches of the cayenne which worked beautifully for us. Thank you so much for this "keeper", Charmie777.

  2. Definite winner here! The best Monte Cristo I've ever had! Seriously good stuff here. I totatlly enjoyed the sweet and salty combination and the kicked up raspberry perserves, oh yumo! Good luck in the contest! I will keep this one handy and make it again and again. ~V

  4. Made for RSC11 2008. This is my second recipe for a Monte Cristo sandwich. We enjoyed this very much. I loved the rasberry preserves mixed with the ham and turkey. DELISH! DH is not a huge cheese fan and he enjoyed this sandwich as well. We both liked it the 2nd time around using a swiss cheese over the Gouda cheese flavor (personal preference). It is a quick and easy put together lunch or dinner that is not the same old same old. WIll make this again and feel good about serving it to company now that I have the flipping down pat. (ist time I messed up my sandwich ) Thank you.

  5. 5 Stars! Oh my word- This was out of this world! I've always wanted to try a monte cristo but would never allow myself. This was the perfect opportunity and it was worth every single calorie. The creamy gouda with the salty ham and then the raspberry to dip- YUM. You have created a winner here!
