  3. Great! I added lots of red pepper, oregano, savory and seasoned salt, 2 small onions and browned them all in 2 tablespoons butter. For me, the amount of liquid called for turned out to be too much, but I know it will make a great soup base later!

  4. I fix this often. Sometimes I use smoked sausage. Often I cook the potatoes in the microwave for a few minutes while the sausage is brwowning. Then I slice them and add to the pan. A favorite quick meal.

Tweaks

  1. This is a wonderfully easy recipe when you want something hearty without a hearty effort. I added some Southwest seasoning while browning the sausage and onions to give it a little kick. I also used the recommendation to use chicken broth in place of the water and found it to add a really nice flavor. Thanks for posting this, I've made it several times nice. So easy I don't even need to look the recipe up any longer.

  2. My son and I cooked this meal together and it turned out great!!! I also used the chicken broth instead of water and added some paprika and pepper. I also added some of Emerald's spices and wow...what a dish. Simple but delicious.

  4. So simple and so good! I used a smoked chicken-apple sausage (Sam's Club) and redskin potatoes sliced but not peeled. I added chicken broth instead of water. And the results were fantastic. The sauce was thick and everyone just loved the whole dish.
