ingredients
- 1 lb kielbasa, sliced
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 cup sauerkraut, rinsed
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup rice, uncooked
- 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons caraway seeds
- 1⁄8 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄8 teaspoon nutmeg
directions
- Brown kielbasa in large skillet.
- Add onion and garlic and saute until limp.
- Stir in remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
- Lower heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.

Thanks for posting this! I was introduced to this dish by my wife at the time, a young lady from Ohio. I lost track of her years ago, and had given up ever tasting it again. I had forgotten the name, and had only a vague recollection of the ingredients. But then along came the internet, and a reunion with my high school sweetheart (who happens to be a great cook). I recently found the recipe here, and convinced my hunny to try making it for me. She made a couple of adjustments for my dietary requirements (mainly substituting low fat turkey keilbasa for the real deal) and served it to me last night. I just ate the leftovers for lunch, and well, it's as good as I remember. Thanks again!
