  • Place everything in covered skillet except for green beans, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes. Add green beans during the last 5 minutes.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste.

  1. This is one of those recipes where not much work is involved. I cooked it as written and the flavors don't come together. It's missing something but I don't know what to do about it.
     
  2. With a couple "minor" changes, we loved this recipe. Instead of potatoes, I used brown minute rice (added at the end--steamed until cooked) and omitted the green beans. It had a Chinese style taste to it, and next time I plan to add chopped carrots, peas, etc. Also--I only had a red onion, so I just chopped half of it in case the taste of the entire onion was overpowering. It worked great!
     
  3. This was a pretty good recipe that had some pretty basic ingredients. I have to say it didn't turn out exactly the same way I thought it was going to. I had to make a few changes due to ingredients I had on hand. I didn't have any onion, so I used a little green pepper to give it some flavor. I did use a little dried minced onion that I had hiding in my cupboard. The green pepper was good, but I wish I would have added it at the end with the green beans. It got a little mushy. I also wish I would have listened to cutting the potatoes in large cubes, instead I halved and sliced my potatoes. This made for them to get a little on the mushy side also. No bite at all to them. Since I was using turkey kielbasa I figured it would be ok if I used chicken stock instead. It turned out ok, but I wish I wouldn't have used so much. It kind of just made everything mushy in my pan. I'd almost cut back to half. I think that would be enough to steam your onion and potatoes enough and leave little remnants at the end. The last thing I exchanged were the green beans. Not a huge change, I just used yellow wax beans instead because that's all I had. I wish I would have had some frozen ones on hand because those would have ended up with a little bit more of a bite to them in the end. It doesn't sound like I liked this recipe, but we really did enjoy it. I just like a lot of veggies with my meal and in the future I might add a half a bag of california blend or whatever fresh veggies that have that have some bite to them. Thanks for the idea! The bay leaf and thyme really give it a good flavor. My husband could smell our supper all the way down the hall when he as coming home.
     
  4. My fiance and I love this. We have made it twice already. I substitute light smoked sausage to make it a little healthier.
