Kinda Almost Like Nutri Grain Bars, Kinda Not

"I found a recipe on Sparkpeople.org for a low fat breakfast bar, and changed it up a bit to make it more like a NutriGrain bar since my kids like those. It turned out pretty good. It's been years since I ate a NutriGrain bar, so I'm not quite positive how close they are though. The recipe calls for 1 cup brown sugar, which I found a little sweet once you included the jam. Despite it having 3 banana's in it, I didn't find it had a strong banana flavour at all."

directions

  • Grease a 13x9 pan.
  • Preheat over to 425.
  • Mix all the wet ingredients together except the jam and water.
  • Add all the dry ingredients.
  • Pour about 2/3 of the mixture into the pan.
  • Heat the jam up in the microwave to make it slightly runny. If it's to thick the spread on the batter, then add a bit of water to it to make it thinner.
  • Pour the jam over the batter and spread it out evenly.
  • Gently pour the rest of the batter over the jam mixture and smooth out over top of the jam.
  • Bake for 20 minutes.
  • Allow to fully cool before trying to cut it.
