Kitchenaid Chocolate Chip Cookies

"One of these days I'm going to lose my Kitchenaid recipe book for good, instead of just misplacing it as I so often do. This is my insurance that my reputation for fantastic chocolate chip cookies remains intact."

directions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Soften butter in the microwave. I microwave each stick of butter 15 seconds then rotate 180 degrees and microwave for another 15 seconds. Your oven will be different.
  • Place sugars, butter, eggs, and vanilla in mixer bowl. Attach bowl and flat beater to mixer.
  • Turn to Speed 2 and mix for 30 seconds. Stop and scrape bowl. Turn to Speed 4 and beat another 30 seconds. Stop and scrape bowl.
  • Sift together baking soda, salt, and flour.
  • Turn to Stir Speed. Gradually add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture over about 2 minutes.
  • Turn to Speed 2 and mix 30 seconds.
  • Turn to Stir Speed and add chocolate chips, mixing for 15 seconds.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, longer if you prefer crunchy cookies.
  • Let the cookies rest for 1 minute after removing from oven, then remove them and cool on wire racks. Allow the baking sheets to cool about 2 minutes before using them for the next batch.

  1. These babies turned out fantastic! My husband bought me a stand-up mixer for my bday last year and this was my first time using it. The recipe is simple and the cookies are super yummy. I chilled my dough in the fridge before spooning it onto the cookie sheet and kept it chilled the whole time. I baked them 8 mins and they were just the right bit of crunchy around the edges, but still soft and gooey! I am freezing half the batter for later use. I made these for a friend, but I can't quit eating them!!!!

  2. Way too sweet!!

  3. I got my Kitchenaid Mixer for Christmas. This is my first of using it tonight. I decided to make these cookies. The ingredients and steps worked perfectly for a first-timer.! The only thing I wasn't very happy with is the oven temperature. I did exactly what it asked me to do. The temperature should of been 325° at 8 to 10 minutes. I burnt my first batch of cookies cuz the temperature. My husband told me it should of been 325°. They turned out great after I turned down the oven. I did made a suggestion to change the temperature for who ever decides to make these cookies. Just a heads up!!

  4. Amazing cookies! We bake these at least once a month in my home! They are so doughy and yummy. My go to recipe!

  5. I was very disappointed in the results. I followed the recipe exactly as written. My cookies came out flat as pancakes. Will go back to my original recipe.

Tweaks

  1. Instead of 12 oz choc chips I put in 9 oz and added chopped walnuts, pepitas, and instant oats to bring it to 12oz. The result was fantastic! Also, FYI, I made these with my handmixer this time as a test and all was well. FYI, I have made these cookies on 3 different continents and they turn out different every time. some more than others! The one constant is that they are always, always delish. Humidity, altitude, flour, heat in your kitchen/house, oven, all play a part!

  2. I love this recipie! My whole family loved theese cookies! Thank you for posting this because my Kitchenaid Artisan mixer did not come with the book! Thank you!

  3. I did find the bottoms burned easily on a normal rectangular cookie sheet. I baked the next several batches on a round pizza pan(as pictured) and they turned out wonderful! I’m not sure if this is because the pizza pan is a bit thicker perhaps? Thank you!!!

  4. I added about 1/4 more butter. They turned out wonderful!

  5. Add candies instead of chocolate chips
