  • 8 ounces tomatillos, husks removed, rinsed, cut into 1/4 inch pieces
  • 8 ounces ripe kiwi, peeled, cut into 1/4 inch pieces
  • 12 medium red onion, finely chopped
  • 3 serranos, seeds removed, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely grated
  • 6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped basil, preferably Thai basil
  • kosher salt

directions

  • Toss tomatillo, kiwi, onion, serrano, garlic, lime juice, and basil in a small bowl to combine; season with salt.
  • Cover and chill 1 hour to allow flavors to come together.

  1. I made it with tomatoes & generic 'chillis'; I loved the kiwi flavour which was different to what I usually see in Mexican recipes. Next time I will make with Tomatillos, I can send off for them in the UK.
