  1. Combine 4 cups sugar, catsup, mustard, red pepper, black pepper, water, salt, Crisco, butter and enough vinegar to make 1 gallon.
  2. Mix well, cook slowly for one hour, stirring while cooking.
  3. Add corn starch.
  4. Add 1/2 cup sugar at last.
