ingredients

1 ¹⁄₄ cups sugar
¹⁄₂ cup lard or 1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
3 tablespoons cocoa
¹⁄₄ teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda

directions

cream lard and sugar
add eggs.
add vanilla
salt and milk.( i add vinegar or lemon juice to milk it activates baking soda about teaspooon).
sift flour once then measure.
last all dry ingredients and sift together
add dry ingredients to wet ingredients
bake 350 degrees 30 minutes.
