This recipe was SO GOOD! I made ham balls and used the pineapple glaze (that I tweaked a bit) for them and it was just like my husband's grandma (from Amish Country) makes. I wound up baking the ham balls for 45 minutes and then I transferred them to a crock pot and poured the glaze over them and let them cook for a few hours. It was really good. Thank you so much for posting!

Delicious ham loaf! I used ground pork shoulder and ground ham. I also substituted Graham cracker crumbs for the bread crumbs - just a touch of sweetness. I make this in large quantities (6 pounds of meat, total) and scoop the mixture into muffin tins, rounding the tops, bake without the glaze for 30 -35 minutes, cool and remove from tins onto a baking sheet and freeze. Then I package them in meal-size quantities (6 to a freezer bag). I also make up the glaze and freeze it in one cup containers (enough for 6 ham balls). These are great to have on hand for a quick meal. I just place each frozen ham ball atop a pineapple slice on a rimmed baking sheet, and baste with the thawed glaze while I bake them at 325º for 40 minutes or till hot. I made 24 ham balls and a small ham loaf from this amount of ground meat. Thanks for a great recipe - a family favorite!

Wow is right! This is good stuff. It has been so long since I've had ham loaf and I'm so happy I found this recipe. I wasn't sure about the sauce after I mixed it because it seemed like a lot but I poured it all on my loaf and it turned out perfect. I used 12 ounces of ground turkey because that's what I had. I just eyeballed the amount of ham because I chopped my own cooked ham in the blender and so I'm not sure if I had a pound or not. Per another reviewer's suggestion I used less salt. Anyway this is awesome and I'm going to have to make it again when I find ham on sale.

This recipe was very good. I bought ham loaf mix at a local Mennonite butcher shop. I added some chopped onion and ginger powder. The sauce is def what makes this dish!! Next time I will use the pineapple juice or crushed pineapple in place of the water. I served this with green been casserole and sweet potatoes and everyone was very please!
