Lazy Fruitcake

  • Cut orange slices into small pieces. (It's easy if you put them in the freezer for an hour before hand.).
  • Combine candy,dates, nuts and coconut and dredge with 1/4 cup of the 4 cups of flour.
  • Set aside.
  • Sift the rest of the flour with soda and salt.
  • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time.
  • Add vanilla and mix well.
  • Add flour mixture alternatley with buttermilk.
  • Fold in date and candy mixture.
  • Pour into 2 well greased loaf pans.
  • Bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours.
  • Pour glaze over hot cakes.
  • Freezes like a charm!
