  1. I thought I was making Beef Souvlaki the other night but it turned out super-duper tough. :( I resurrected the meat by generally following this recipe. (Sorry, I didn't do the onion or garlic powder.) I used a food processor to process my marinated beef, added chopped dill pickles with some juice, chopped red onion and enough mayo to make it spread. Kosher salt & fresh ground pepper for the win. Tastes great on a fork or crackers, I think a sandwich would be divine. Thank you!

  2. Very good. I used leftover roast veal and added French mustard as well as the horseradish sauce.

  3. This recipe is marvelous...my Mom made it when I was a kid... now my kids love it too...we always made sandwiches on rolls topped with lettuce...thanks for submitting this nostalgic recipe.

  4. Thank you so much. I can remember my mom, about 55-60 yrs. ago, packing lunches for my dad and me with this filling. I always looked forward to it and have tried to duplicate it over the years, but just couldn't find the "missing ingredient". It was the horseradish!! Made some tonight with leftover steak and it is wonderful (although I was a bit heavy with the garlic). Thanks for bringing back great memories.

  5. This was a good spread, and a great way to use up a bit of leftover steak. I had 5 oz of meat, so I cut the mayo to 1/3 cup. I had a great garlic sauce in the fridge, so I subbed it for the horseradish, which I didn't have. I would increase the onion powder to 1/4 teaspoon, and next time will add the horseradish. Great spread, thanks for posting.
