  • Prepare asparagus: hold base of eash stalk firmly and bend. End will break off where stalk becomes tough; discard ends.
  • With a sharp knife or potato peeler, remove scales.
  • Trim rough ends to make even.
  • In 12 inch skillet, over medium heat, melt butter watching so it doesn't burn.
  • Add asparagus, lemon juice and salt.
  • Cover and cook till tender-crisp, about 5 minutes, turning occasionally.
