Directions

  1. Mix sugar and cornstarch.
  2. Combine with butter, lemon juice, egg yolks and milk.
  3. Cook in top of a double boiler until thick and cooked.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. When cool, stir in sour cream.
  6. Pour into baked pie shell.
  7. Serve with whipped cream or make meringue with 3 egg whites.
  8. Preheat oven to 425F degrees.
  9. In Mixing bowl, beat egg whites until frothy.
  10. Add cream of tartar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  11. Gradually beat in sugar and continue beating until stiff and glossy.
  12. Pile meringue lightly on cooled pie making sure it touches edge of pastry to prevent it from shrinking.
  13. Bake five to six minutes.
