Lemon Orange Rolls

"From Southern Living. These can be made in batches, but the dough will need to be refrigerated until it's time to make the next batch. Pillsbury Hot Roll Mix should be found in the cake mix section in the grocery store. Prep time includes rising time."

  • 16 ounces pillsbury hot roll mix
  • 14 cup butter, softened and divided
  • 23 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange rind, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon rind, grated
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 14 cup orange juice

  • Prepare the hot roll dough mix according to the directions on the package.
  • Divide the dough in half.
  • Roll one half of the dough in a 12x8" rectangle on a floured surface.
  • Spread 2 T butter on the dough.
  • Combine the sugar, orange and lemon rind and sprinkle half of it over the butter.
  • Beginning at the long side, roll the dough jelly-roll fashion.
  • Repeat these steps with the remaining dough, butter and sugar mixture.
  • Cut the rolls in 1/2" slices.
  • Place each roll in a lightly greased miniature muffin pan.
  • Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes.
  • When the dough has finished rising, bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden.
  • Remove the rolls from the muffin pans and place on wire racks.
  • Combine the powdered sugar and orange juice.
  • Spoon evenly over the rolls.
