  • For base, combine flour, sugar, and butter.
  • Mix well.
  • Press into a greased and floured 8"X8" square pan.
  • Bake at 325F.
  • for 20 minutes or until golden.
  • For the top, combine sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in the eggs.
  • Stir in the lemon juice.
  • Mix well.
  • Pour over the base.
  • Bake at 325F.
  • for 20-25 minutes, or until done.
  • Cool in pan.

  4. An excellent recipe for a great classic. I like that the base calls for regular sugar since I don't always have confectioner's sugar on hand. I used fresh squeezed lemon juice and added the zest of the lemon for an added kick as well. If possible, use real butter. It really adds to the overall flavor.
     
  5. These were good! Not quite as tart as I remember lemon squares being... so not exactly what I was looking for, but they still got eaten! I dusted mine with powdered sugar as my mom always used to. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
