Lemouroudji (Lemonade)
"I found this recipe online in a lesson plan written by a teacher who was exposing her students to some African traditions. If drinking ginger and cayenne seem odd to you... then this recipe is not for you. Drank in all parts of Africa but especially popular in West and North Africa."

ingredients
- 2 pieces gingerroot (a little bigger then thumb size)
- 1 gallon water
- 1 lb lemon, juice of
- 1⁄2 lb sugar
- ground cayenne pepper, to taste (optional)
directions
- Place grated ginger dusted with cayenne in a piece of cheesecloth, knot it, and allow the ginger and cayenne to infuse the water so that the water takes on flavor (about 15 minutes).
- Add sugar and lemon juice and mix well.
- Chill and serve cold. (You can leave out the cayenne if you wish.) Chill, adjust sugar if necessary and serve.

We loved this! Added everything just as it said, except for the sugar. Just added it to taste so it not sure exactly how much but it wasn't the 1/2 pound. Very refreshing and you should try it with a shot of tequila :D Made for ZWT4 -
I've learned from my father that ginger's good for the throat ;) and mixed with lemon it was good. Mixture's just so good that adding ginger in it gives lemonade a bit of spice. I placed so little cayenne just enough to say I placed. lol Great to have during the heat! Thanks! Made for WZT4. -
I loved it. I buy lemon ginger tea all the time, so I knew this would be right up my alley. I have a new juicer, so I love to make recipes that call for fresh juice. I actually sliced the ginger like the other reviewer for more spice. Made for ZWT4 (and will be making this again).

I live in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina on Butler Mountain. I am a mystery shopper for restaurants and retail establishments. I graduated from UNC-Asheville with a BFA in art (photography).
I was just recently married in Costa Rica to KC and his 6 year old son, Ty. Our wedding was perfect and I will cherish the memories forever. Leslie, Mama's Kitchen, sassafrasnanc, Mommy Diva and Chef V attended the wedding with their husbands!! Leslie's daughter Sarah was our flower girl and her hubby Wayne was our talented musician! I had the time of my life!!!

Our family is rounded out with 6 Bengals, 1 Jack Russell Terror named Harley, a ferret named Mason, giant gold fish, a water dragon named Crusoe, a Beautiful Appaloosa/Arabian named Sassy, a stunning Palomino Quarter Horse named Sweet Pea and a gorgeous black Standardbred named Domino! We also have added a Leopard Appaloosa rescue horse to the mix. Her name is Pebbles and she is lovely!

I love Zaar! I have so many wonderful friends here and I really enjoy being a Forum Host. I love the games in the Contest & Events Forum! The games are addictive and a great opportunity to meet the members of this community. I had a blast co-hosting the first Zaar World Tour 2005 with ~Leslie~. Zaar World Tour II doubled in size and ~Leslie~ and I were joined with co-hosts Mama�s Kitchen and kzbhansen. I try to cook using only organic ingredients and fresh organic produce. Of course this is not always possible... but I do make the effort.
