Lil' Gals Hair Detangler---Homemade

"Just made this after running out of our favorite. It worked! I'm sure others have "discovered" this, but I thought I'd pass it on to those who haven't."

ingredients

 • 2 cups water
 • 14 cup hair conditioner

directions

 • Mix ingredients well by shaking together in a spray bottle. I just used the one the original came from so there was no mixup of what it was.
 • Spray hair liberally.
 • No tangles = no tears. Use more conditioner if needed. Just not too much or it will weigh hair down and may appear dull. Approximately 50 sprays, likely more!

 1. This is a great trick. I like to use the same recipe but use about 1/2 the conditioner and about 1/8-1/4 cup (depending on greasy-ness) of high-SPF sunblock. No more buying expensive detanglers - or sunblock sprays!

 2. I gave this recipe 3 stars. I found this recipe a while ago and kept saying I'm gonna try it but I always kept buying new bottles. This last time I decided to keep my empty bottle. I just recently made up a bottle with Aussie consitioner. I did cut the recipe in half to fit in my 10oz detangler bottle. When I made this I did it in my measuring cup so I could mix it very well before shaking. I used fauet water not sure of the temp. but I had lumps when I mixed it and I had to scrape the sides of my measuring cup where some of the conditioner didn't dissolve, so next time I'll use hot water. Overall this worked ok maybe it was the conditioner I used. I probably will try this again with another conditioner and nothing cheap for sure. When I was doing my nieces hair she had so many knots and I was afraid to spray to much on and we had a bit of trouble like normal getting the knot out. She did agree that the spray did seem to help. The thing I liked about this spray is after my nieces hair dryed she combed it and it was soft and made her hair look so nice. Thanks for posting a good recipe! Christine (internetnut)

 3. This is such a great money saving idea. I have waist length hair, so I needed this for myself. I used hot water so that the conditioner would dissolve, and it works great!

 4. This is better then the detangler that we usually use which is the kids detangler from great clips. This stuff works wonders, after using this I will NEVER buy detangler again. I had a smaller spray bottle so I just halved the recipe. I used aussie moist conditioner which like i said worked like a dream:-)

 5. This is perfect! It's cheap, easy to make and works just as good as the detangler I purchased. I only have to give my daughters hair three sprays, otherwise it gets too weighed down (she inherited my fine hair, poor thing) - but it's still very easy to comb through. I will never buy detangler again!

I'm a WAHM of 2. I paint and sell my original shabby and primitive signs in my online stores called the Shabby Sign Shoppe. Keeps me busy and helps keep the roof over our heads, but takes away from two favorite pastimes--cooking and working in the yard.

To be in the kitchen uninterrupted is my form of relaxation and I try to get in there and cook at least 2-3 good meals a week. I'm trying to get healthier with cooking, but it is so hard with all these amazing Food.com recipes shouting Make Me, Make Me. I discovered Recipezaar in 2002. I tell EVERYONE about it and it's definately my go-to recipe site. Other sites pale in comparison.

Whenever I search for a recipe, Recipezaar never lets me down. I typically ONLY try 5 star recipes, but sometimes will try unrated ones if I am feeling frisky and the recipe is from a chef I'm familar with. Kittencal, MizzNezz and Wildflour are 3 of my favorites.

Diehard foodies tend to annoy. I should know because I used to be one!
