ingredients

 • 6 eggs (or as called for by your cake mixes)
 • 23 cup oil (or as called for by your cake mixes)
 • 2 23 cups water (or as called for by your cake mixes)
 • 1 (16 ounce) package vanilla cream-filled sandwich style cookies
 • 1 (6 ounce) box chocolate pudding mix
 • 12 -16 small Tootsie Rolls
 • 1 new kitty litter box
 • 1 plastic Pooper Scooper
 • green food coloring

directions

 • Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions on box, using 2 9x13" pans. Let cool completely.
 • Prepare pudding mix according to package directions. Once cooked, cover bowl with saran wrap, and chill in refrigerator, until ready to assemble cake.
 • Place Vanilla sandwich cookies in a heavy duty Zip-lock plastic bag, and roll with a rolling pin until cookies are crumbled.
 • Set aside 1/4 cup of the cookie crumbs. Add a few drops green food coloring to the 1/4 cup crumbs, and mix with a fork.
 • Remove the cakes from their pans, and crumble into a lg. bowl.
 • Toss cake with 1/2 the remaining vanilla cookie crumbs, and the chilled pudding. You probably won't need all of the pudding.
 • Mix gently with the cake crumbs until evenly moist.
 • Put mixture into a NEW litter box that has been lined with plastic wrap.
 • Unwrap the tootsie rolls. Place 3 of them in a microwavable dish, and heat on LOW until soft and pliable, checking every 30 secs. Taper the ends of the tootsie rolls, rolling them between your palms and curving slightly, to make them look like pieces of poop.
 • Repeat with remaining tootsie rolls, heating them 3 at a time. Bury some of them and you can place a few on top too. Sprinkle some of the ones on top with cookie crumbs.
 • Sprinkle the other 1/2 of cookie crumbs over top of the cake.
 • Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly over the top (this resembles the colored granules in some brands of kitty litter).
 • Dip the scoop in the box, and your ready to scoop and eat!

 1. I made this cake for my child's grade 2 Hallowe'en party and it was a huge success. She has food allergies so I made it all milk and soy free. I did use 2 cake mixes-next time I will make a homemade cake instead because it is better quality but thankfully it was not too dry since we add the pudding. I crumbled ~1.5 cakes into the dish. I made a jello vanilla pudding mix (no cook) substituting coconut milk for the dairy and it was very tasty. For the kitty pooh, I could not use Tootsie Rolls so instead melted 1 cup of dairy-free chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon of dairy-free margarine and then added 2 cups of confectioners sugar. I actually kneaded the sugar in to make chocolate clay which we then formed into kitty pooh. They tasted like large chocolate chips. This made far too much so next time I would half the pooh recipe. I used Arrowroot cookies for the cookie crumbs and it was worth dyeing half green to get the look of real kitty liter. The pudding made nice wet blotches in the litter and helped to bind it together. I also added yellow thin sprinkle pieces to give it some occasional crunch. I served it in the kitty tray with the scoop in it-very authentic. I supplied clear plastic cups and spoons for the kids to eat it from as it is an easy cake for young kids to spill. I think it will be a tradition!

 2. I made this cake for my family as a joke to see their reaction to dessert after dinner on Halloween. My DS and DD and their spouses thought it was wild and couldn't wait to try some of the poop :) It was a big success here! Thanks for sharing!

 3. This turned out so fun. We used Tootsie Rolls, soft toffee rolls in lighter brown colors, Mary Jane and Bit-O-Honey candies for a variety of nice poop. All of my candies were fresh enough to mold by hand and not use the microwave. We had this for a small Family Party and did not finish it all. So I put the rest in the fridge. When your cake is cold- Watch out for the really cold hard poop! I did not think of them hardening up when cold, but the warmth of your mouth will soften them up in no time. I was unable to find a Carmel flavored Cake Mix, so I just mixed in some Carmel Ice Cream Topping into the Butter Flavor cake mix we used before baking and it turned out very tasty. I used the whole box of pudding and after sitting in the fridge, I would have liked a bit more pudding as it was very much absorbed into the cake. It is delicious, easy to make and so fun to introduce to the table. Such an unexpected cake. The only thing I would change in the future is to add a bit of color like JuJuBeJen did. Thanks for this version, we like the chocolate and carmel flavors.

 4. Everyone here went bonkers for this cake at my annual Halloween party. They thought it was pretty gross to look at, but since they liked gummy everything and tootsie rolls, they ate it with glee! Thanks for sharing!

 5. I made this for my daughters Halloween party and one for work. Everyone loved the looked and once the got over the look they were still leery to try! lol Once they did they didn't think it was bad, but they were more impressed by the idea.

Hi Everyone,

I just don't have the time these days to send out individual thank yous for those that make and review my recipes, but I just want you to know that you are truly appreciated and it tickles me every time I get a review, knowing you tried my recipes and enjoyed them the way I do.

I even appreciate the ones that tried them and for some reason they didn't work out for you. Everyone has different tastes, and you can't please everyone all the time.

Lots of times people change the recipes, adding things, leaving things out, and not seasoning them to their own taste, and give a bad review... Recipes are only guidelines, and if you follow mine and don't like it, then it's a personal preference as to why you don't like it, and I appreciate that. However, if you don't follow my recipe then it is YOUR recipe that you don't like, and my recipe shouldn't be rated. IMHO Thanks for trying them anyway :)

Hugs,

Linda

My name is Linda. I am happily single, and I live in Rochester NH. I just moved back to the town where most of my family lived years ago, and where I lived as a child, after living in NC for 5 years. I have 2 grown sons, a dil, and 2 beautiful grandsons.

I really enjoy my time here on Zaar posting recipes, trying new recipes, taking pictures, and reviewing lots of yummy recipes!

I love to cook, and share recipes. The recipes that I share are mainly my own creations, or family recipes passed down to me from my mom and grandmother, and other family members or friends. If I post something from somewhere else, it has to sound REALLY good to me for me to post it!

Many of the dishes that I prepare are simple, good, down home cooking. Many of them originate from New England, as my grandmother is from Maine, and my mother from New Hampshire. I do also like to try making some gourmet recipes as well, using my creativity along the way.

I started cooking at a the age of 8, helping my mother and grandmother in the kitchen. My curiosity for cooking has led me to create many of my own recipes through trial and error. I hope you enjoy them as much as my family and I do :)

In my spare time I play on my computer collecting recipes, and have been working on creating a cookbook to publish for some time, but have put it aside for now.

I also love to travel and shop. I love to go to the beach and mountains, and as food is a passion of mine, I love to dine out and try many different cuisines in the area, and with friends when I am traveling :)

I made my first herb garden in 2008, but have had vegetable gardens for many years in the past. I have done my share of canning and I love those fresh herbs and veggies all summer long!

My Rating System:

5 Stars ***** Outstanding recipe that I absolutely loved. It can be down home or restaurant quality, as long as it tastes great and I didn't have to make any changes along the way! Also recipe has to have clear directions. One I would definately make again and again.

4 Stars **** Great recipe that I loved, but one that I may have had to tweak just a bit. Directions may have not been crystal clear. One I would make again and again with my changes.

3 Stars *** I liked the recipe, but had to add ingredients, or add more of a called for ingredient to have the recipe come out the way I like it. I would probably make again sometime.

2 Stars ** This recipe was ok, but I probably wouldn't make it again due to lack of taste, undesireable texture, or unclear directions etc.

1 Star * This recipe was one I didn't like at all. Either the amounts of ingredients were wrong (too little flavor or too much of one/some of the ingredients in the recipe), or the recipe didn't come out right following the directions given. Lack of directions.

No Stars - I have tried the recipe in the past and want to make a comment, or I am adding a comment about the recipe posted, possibly a tip or what I feel to be important information about the recipe.

<img style=border: 0px initial initial;
