Linda's Sweet and Sour Sauce

"My mother-in-law gave me the best recipe for sweet and sour sauce that I've ever tried. We like it best on meatballs, but it's also good on leftover cooked chicken or roast pork, and my children even like it on chopped-up hotdogs ! My husband prefers it to be served with mashed potatoes on the side, so he can scoop some of the sauce over them."

  1. This was not the best sweet and sour sauce I've ever had but for the small amount of ingredients and the simplicity of the recipe, it is definitely a keeper. I added some salt and crushed red pepper flakes at the end for a little more flavor. Thank you for sharing Terri.

  2. We LOVED this sauce! Made egg rolls for dinner and I needed a sweet and sour sauce and found this one. Nice and thick, alittle sweet but delicious!! This is one of those recipes that I usually have all the ingredients on hand and can make in a flash when needed. A keeper in my book for sure!! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe!

  3. I made this for Pick a Chef Fall 2005. This was an easy recipe and produces a nice thick sauce. I always have these ingredients in the house and now I can whip up and easy sauce in a flash. I used it over meatballs that I had in the freezer and this recipe has found a place in my public cookbook "Stuff to do with meatballs" Thanks!

I live by the Atlantic Ocean - beautiful sunrises! For fun, I like to read, sew, and spend time with my children [son age 17, daughter age 10]. I enjoy cooking for my family and friends.Every week, on my day off, I try something new. Sometimes it's a "keeper", sometimes it's a dud, but it's always interesting. My husband, son and daughter look forward to "New Recipe Night", and to rating my efforts.
