  • Drain leaves. Separate. Soak to remove brine.
  • Dry on paper towels.
  • Heat oil in a skillet.
  • Add the beef, onion and garlic. Brown.
  • Add the water, tomato sauce, rice,.
  • mint, parsley, salt, pepper, cinnamon, currants, pine nuts and port.
  • Bring to a boil. Reduce. Cover. Simmer 15 minutes.
  • Let cool.
  • Remove stems from leaves. Place stem side up on counter.
  • Place 1-2 teaspoons of filling on each.
  • Fold in sides then roll up tightly.
  • Line the bottom of a large skillet with 4 of the leaves. Top with rolls, fitting them snuggly.
  • Add water and lemon juice.
  • Place a plate on top.
  • Bring to a boil. Reduce. Cover. Simmer 45 minutes.
  • Serve with lemon slices.
