directions

  • Remove sauce from heat and set aside to cool.
  • Shred cheese, prepare vegetable and meat toppings, and set aside.

  • Once mixed well, form into a ball.
  • On a floured surface, pick dough ball up and throw down hard several times.
  • With floured hands (using as little flour as possible) kneed for 2 minutes.
  • Place dough in center of pizza pan.
  • Using the palm of your hand, press dough out to edges of pan.
  • Thumb print outside edge of crust.
  • Place pan in preheated 425 º F oven for 10 minutes, then remove.
  • In a small bowl mix melted margarine and small amount of Garlic powder.
  • Brush margarine and garlic mixture on outside edge of crust.
  • Spread sauce, sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes, then add shredded cheese, and toppings of your choice to pizza.
  • Bake in pre-heated oven at 425º F for 20 to 25 minutes.

  1. NOT LOW SODIUM! Go get some real pizza

  2. This recipe turned out very well for me. I added a lot of fresh, flavorful veggies: green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and rinsed black olives. I brushed the crust with Low Sodium (15mg) Italian Dressing (http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/italian-dressing-low-sodium-14375?ftab=reviews) before adding the recipe's pizza sauce. I used pepperoni, but I put it in a colander and pour lots of boiling water over it to rinse away the fat and sodium. It ends up being a very bland version of pepperoni, but the flavor and texture is still there. I also grind some cracked pepper over the pizza to add back some of that pepperoni flavor I washed away.

  3. The worst low sodium recipe I've tried so far. I'm getting used to my husband's customary comment, "needs salt," since starting a sodium restricted diet, but this pizza just didn't redeem itself. No flavor, blech!
