Lower Fat Chocolate Cake in a Mug

"This is a composite of several recipes in hopes of making a version that is less fattening, but still satisfying. There are other versions that use 2 tbsp fat free sour cream instead of the banana. There are many types of flour that have been cited, including rice flour for gluten free. Also different sweeteners available such as sucanat. Egg beaters can be substituted, and oil can be left out all together, substituted with apple sauce."

directions

  • 1. combine dry ingredients in a large microwave mug.
  • 2. add egg and rest of wet ingredients. Mix in chocolate chips if using them.
  • 3. Cook in microwave for 3 mins at max power. Or adjust accordingly. From all recipes I have read, when the cake stops rising, it is done. Allow to cool in mug for several minutes and serve.
  • 4. Some additional topping ideas I have read are chocolate syrup, vanilla ice cream, berries, and whip cream. These would obviously add more calories, etc. I like it just plain and chocolaty.
