  1. This was a quick dinner to whip up. Made as written except with penne pasta. My DSs were not thrilled with it, but DH and I loved it. Will season the meat mixture a little more. Made for Lets P-A-R-T-Y 2011.

  2. I made this recipe on 12/11/11 for the " Let's P-A-R-T-Y 2011 Event ". Except for cutting this in half, the recipe was made as written( even right down to using the cream cheese with chives and onions). And since I'm a cheese nut a bit was added to the sour cream layer before baking. But after tasting, we both decided that the meat portion really needed something to " perk it up ". If I do make this again, some garlic powder, crushed red pepper flakes and maybe some oregano will be added to the meat portion. Maybe that will " perk it up " .But thank you for taking time to post the recipe and " Keep Smiling :) "

  3. my family loved this, made with ground elk. Will make again soon.

  4. My family really enjoyed this dish. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I made some changes. I only used 1 pound of beef and 16 ounces of noodles, I also seasoned my meat with garlic and added some hot sauce in with the tomato sauce. I didn't have an onion on hand so I used some onion powder and it was good. Thank you for posting this, we will be having it again! :)

  5. I went to make a plate of this for myself only to find it was completely gone! Everyone loved it, and it turned out perfect just the way the directions are written. Thanks for a great and easy recipe!

Tweaks

  1. This was ok; I think it would've been better, but I substituted one lb of the ground beef with italian sausage. The sausage was very overpowering and made it way too salty. Next time I will just use ground beef. Also, two lbs of meat is too much for the small amount of sauce that the recipe calls for. If I make this again, I will only use one lb. I also added 2 cups of mozzarella cheese on top, and that's probably the only thing that saved this dish.

I am a wife, a mother and grandmother, I love to bake and I love to can (water-bath and pressure). My family and I live on 5 acres, we now have chickens and ducks and who knows what else we'll add in the future. My favorite meal to make and eat is soup.
